Prajiad | A Father's Gift, A Fighter's Journey
The Muay Thai armband, called a prajiad, is a special symbol with deep meaning in Thai tradition. It goes back to a time when a parent, often a father, would give a piece of their own clothing to their child before they went off to war. This cloth was tied around the arm as a sign of protection, love, and connection to home. It reminded the child of where they came from and gave them strength and courage.
Over time, this became a tradition in Muay Thai. Today, the prajiad is worn by fighters. It’s often given by a coach or teacher when a student is ready to take the next step, but the meaning remains the same; support, pride, and love from someone who believes in you.
Legacy begins at home. At Legacy, we would like the parent to be the first to place the prajiad on their child. This honors the tradition and makes the moment even more meaningful. It’s a way to show your support and pride as your child continues their martial arts journey.
